Acts House welcomes new principal

MIDRAND – Acts House of Education is pleased to welcome Riaan van der Merwe as their new principal.

Acts House of Education has welcomed Riaan van der Merwe as their new principal.

After five years of service to the school, Anny Breedt will be leaving to move to KwaZulu-Natal. Van der Merwe said he was excited to be part of the Acts House of Education family and was looking forward to continue the excellent work of his predecessor.

Deputy principal of the primary school Caroline Maurukira said, “He [Van der Merwe] soon realised after joining the school at the end of last year why this school is growing so fast, as parents and learners are excited to be part of the mission of the school to equip children to become life-long learners who are resourceful and able to confidently function in a global environment.

“One of the successes of Acts House of Education is that it could quickly adapt in 2020 to a fast-changing educational environment due to the worldwide pandemic. During the lockdown period, the school took steps to ensure that the interruption of the education of children was minimised.

The school achieved 100 per cent completion of the curriculum through online learning platforms that provided engaging and challenging learning experiences to students.”

Van der Merwe said that the school was ready to utilise these digital platforms this year.

Maurkira concluded, “Acts House of Education is privileged to have a caring community of parents, teachers and staff who work together as one family to help students realise success in their studies.”
