Deppe wishes Ward 132 a blessed festive season

MIDRAND – Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe wishes the local community well for the festive season.

Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe reflects on the year and shares her message to the local community.
She writes:

Now is an important time as ever to bring joy and uplifting messages to those in our community. Share support and good wishes by sending messages to your friends, family, and anyone else who regularly crosses your path and makes life better for all.

Whether it’s to wish a relative well, to pass your thoughts on to a friend who’s feeling ill, to say happy festive season, or to share gratitude with the everyday heroes working on the frontlines who deal with the coronavirus.

During these uncertain times, sometimes it takes an interruption to daily life to remind us how much we count on the dedication of teachers, the expertise of nurses and doctors, or the dependability of mail carriers, just to name a few. As the everyday heroes on the frontlines of this pandemic carry out their critical and often stressful work all year-round, our thanks to you too. Frontline workers are those who support us in our communities, providing services that are most needed.

To those who came out in Ward 132 to support us financially and in kind over the last year while we were feeding people in need. We managed to collect R400 000 in the SPAR Covid-19 Relief Fund and helped 1 000 families across Midrand and beyond with a food hamper.

Further to that we collected donations in food, clothes and toiletries, with many individuals, families, NGOs, NPOs delivering directly, too many to mention. To my friends, colleagues and family who helped over this time. My garage become a storeroom for seven months. Thanks to you all, we pulled together as a community in Ward 132 to help wherever we could.

Thanks to the many hands that made light work. Those security companies who transported our parcels and protected us in exceedingly difficult situations at times. TRSS, Infantry Security, ARN and JMPD, as well as SAPS. Food for Life who provided 10 000 hot meals to our poorest communities in Midrand and continue to do so.

Your strength gave me strength to carry myself through the last seven months. You are the true heroes, and we appreciate you and your sacrifices more than words can say. To all those that were willing to sacrifice their own safety and well-being in this crisis, we are eternally grateful. We wish you safety and health as you forge ahead to get us to the other side of this pandemic.

We are so grateful for your support. Thank you so much for what you are doing for our ward. Thank you for your commitment and dedication. Thank you for your compassion, collaboration, and courage.

Thank you for providing exceptional care and, perhaps, most importantly, thank you for giving us hope and bringing light during these times of uncertainty and fear. As the world’s attention focuses on coronavirus, turn your attention to those close to you.

May you all have a blessed festive season and come back in the new year with lots of energy and confidence in your role going forward in our country – 2021 is going to be a humdinger and you will need all the energy you have to pull it together for everyone who lives, works and plays here.
