KANANA – A man was captured by the community in Kanana for a house breaking he allegedly committed.

Rabie Ridge police arrested a man on 15 November for allegedly breaking into a house in Kanana.

According to the Rabie Ridge Police Station spokesperson, Constable Jacob Nhlongo, the alleged robbery took place at about 9pm.

Nhlongo said when the complainant arrived at his home, he found a window open.

“He then went inside to check what could have happened and he noticed that his Pioneer DVD player, Lucky Star DVD player, white takkies and cash amounting to R800 were all missing,” said Nhlongo.

“Later on the same night, he heard that community members had caught someone with suspected stolen goods.

“Upon arriving at the place where the community members had kept the suspect captive, he found a male lying on the ground surrounded by the community and his property that was missing from his room.”

Nhlongo added that a man was arrested and detained at Rabie Ridge Police Station for house breaking and theft.

Sector manager for the Kanana area, Sergeant Tebogo Kgafane thanked the community for responding swiftly and further pleaded with the community to not take the law into their own hands as the suspect was badly injured.
