Christ Church Preparatory School and College hosted their annual valediction ceremony to award their 2020 Grade 12 group.
Marketing manager for the school, Dawn Schmitz, said that the current Grade 12 class are currently writing their IEB finals examinations.
She added, “This has been a very strong group, academically, culturally and on the sport field. This is evident in the fact that more pupils in this group received honours blazers than any other group. Pupils received recognition for achievements at the valediction service. These awards included academic achievements, as well as character and service awards.” The learner who received the Principal Award for service to the school was Boipelo Monareng.
Schmitz said, “This year it was awarded to a young lady who epitomises the type of pupil that we would like to hold up as the type of student that the school produces. She shows respect without being subservient.”
Individual subject awards were handed over at the valedictions ceremony to celebrate students who achieved consistent marks above 65 per cent.
These went to the following:
- Mishka Govender – business studies
- Thabiso Mulauzi – computer applications technology and the Reitz Trophy for CAT
- Kyle Sathiah – geography
- Samuel Schultz – mathematical literacy
- Tshiamo Modise – physical science
- Ashley Le Patourel – dramatic arts, history, as well as the Madiba Trophy for history, English, and the Doreen Edwards Trophy for English
- Paballo Mofokeng – Afrikaans and the Mollema Trophy for Afrikaans, life orientation, life sciences, information technology and the Reitz Trophy for information technology
- Karabo Mafatle – isiZulu, mathematics and the Dawn Bell Trophy for mathematics, hospitality studies, physical science, accounting, and the Marriday Trophy for accounting
- Karabo Mafatle – dux scholar.
The school also awarded the discipleship awards, which Schmitz said, “Our mission statement reads that Christ Church Preparatory School and College exists to equip individuals to grow in Christian faith, to build Godly character, to maximise their potential and to use their gifts in service to society.”
These awards went to the following:
- Thabiso Mulauzi and Boipelo Monareng – David Award (awarded to the learner/s who showed a consistent desire to do what is pleasing to God)
- Kyle Sathiah and Refiloe Mulauzi – Daniel Award (awarded to the learner/s who showed bold faith and increasing wisdom and growth in the Lord)
- Tshiamo Modise, Michael-John Bevan, Olanre Soogun, Zama Zulu, Theresa Grant and Morateng Dube – Caleb Award (awarded to the learner/s who showed perseverance and diligence to assigned tasks)
- Hale Mokoena, Ndoda Ramuvhundu, Amukele Xaba, Abi-Lee Koeberg and Karabo Mafatle – Jonathan Award (awarded to the learner/s who showed genuine friendship and concern)
- Khodani Ramusethele and Rebaone Pule – Paul Award (awarded to the learner/s who showed a visible transformation in the way in which they conduct themselves at school and in their faith)
- James Frost and Ashley le Patourel – Fruit of the Spirit Award.
- Tiisetso Magano and Khutso Sindane – Joshua Award (awarded to the learner/s who showed exemplary Christian leadership)
- Justin Hudson and Samuel Schultz – The Billy Magutshwa Trophy (awarded to the learner/s who, in the opinion of the staff, best exemplifies the core values of the school).
Schmitz concluded, “Christ Church Preparatory School and College would like to congratulate all our award winners. You have served your school to the best of your ability.”
