Nine apprehended for robbery in Midrand

MIDRAND – The Midrand police arrested nine suspects who robbed a clothing warehouse on 13 October.

Midrand police arrested nine suspects involved in a business robbery of a clothing warehouse in Midrand on 13 October.

Midrand Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Thabiso Selowa said the initial incident occurred at a business park in Randjespark when two suspects approached the supervisor at the clothing warehouse. One of the suspects showed the supervisor his firearm at his waist and informed them its was a robbery.

Selowa said the suspects instructed the employees to assemble at the dispatch area and to lie down on the floor. Seven more suspects entered the premises along with four trucks. They proceeded to load boxes of clothing to the value of R1 million in the three of the trucks before they fled the scene.

The Midrand police received a tip-off about the robbery and with assistance from their tracing team, Midrand CPF and Hawkeye Security were able to arrest the suspects later in the day.

The nine suspects were arrested and charged with business robbery.

The four trucks with the stolen clothing were recovered by the police and suspects were detained at the Midrand Police Station.
