Midrand CPF highlights how community can follow up on their police cases

MIDRAND – Midrand Police and Community Police Forum get estates and complexes involved in the fight against crime.

The Midrand Police Station and the Midrand Community Policing Forum hosted a meeting with residents at the La Maison Royale Estate in Midrand on 26 September.

In attendance at the meeting was visible policing head Colonel David Mahloromela, crime prevention members, CPF chairperson Steven Johnston and treasurer Tshegofatso Kekae as well as Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority member Jan Sambo.

Midrand Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Matome Tlamela said, “The meeting was part of an ongoing awareness campaign with the purpose of educating community members in Sector 3 policing area of the procedures needed to be followed to join the CPF and Sector Crime Forum, as well as other forums formed at the station including monthly complex forum meetings held at the station.

“The community was also enlightened on procedures needed to be followed after reporting a case and ways to claim feedback on cases,” said Tlamela.

Steven Johnston, chairman of the CPF added that the outcome was positive. “We have requested that they join the complex forum and also link up with the Sector 3 SCF to get more involved within their sector.”

Tlamela concluded that, as part of the meeting, Detective Mantarina Masango presented crime statistics on property-related cases for Sector 3, including arrests and conviction rates.
