Kyalami-based Lipizzaners impress audiences

KYALAMI – Pre-book your tickets for the South African Lipizzaner Sunday shows.

Community members are encouraged to support the Kyalami-based South African Lipizzaners by attending their Sunday morning classical shows.

Volunteer at the SA Lipizzaners Gina Boxley said, “It has been a long, hard drought for us and we are desperate for the lifting of the 50 people limit to the shows, but in the meantime, we are getting a full house of 50 people every week so far, which has started to slowly build our desperately-needed funding to keep the Lipizzaners fed and looked after.”

Boxley said there have been a number of other issues that need to be attended to including horse tack and blankets, the maintenance to their home, painting and renovation of stables, repair of riders’ uniforms and more.

Head of public relations and support programmes at the SA Lipizzaners Jhan-Marie van den Berg said, “The current performances are a true testament to the incredible perseverance of the Lipizzaner breed.

During times of hardship, Lipizzaners only seem to get better and this is certainly true of our very own SA Lipizzaners.” Van den Berg said the cancellation of their Sunday performances for a number of months resulted in a major loss of income.

“As safety is our top priority, we ensure to take all necessary precautions for the safety of the public and our staff, visitors are kept distanced and are also required to complete Covid-19 compliance forms, temperatures and sanitisation stations are also available throughout the performance and yard.”

Tickets cost R150 per person for the 11am Sunday performances in Kyalami. Contact the SA Lipizzaners via email on stallion@lipizzaners.co.za or call 079 716 4792 to book tickets and receive your Covid-19 compliance forms.
