Covid-19: Minister reports 903 new Covid-19 cases

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize said that regrettably there were 81 more deaths reported on 29 September.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize announced that there were 903 new Covid-19 cases reported on 29 September, bringing the total to 672 572.

The cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 4 164 491 with 12 011 new tests conducted since the last report. Gauteng remains the province with the highest number of Covid-19 cases, with over 219 000 cases.

Mkhize reported 81 more Covid-19 related deaths: There were eight deaths from Eastern Cape, 10 from Northern Cape, 11 from KwaZulu-Natal, 28 from Gauteng, five from Limpopo, eight from North West, six from Western Cape and five from the Free State.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 16 667. The recoveries now stand at 606 520 which translates to a recovery rate of 90 per cent.
