Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has announced that there were an additional 1 268 coronavirus cases reported in South Africa on 27 September.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 670 766. Gauteng still accounts for the highest number of cases with 32.7 per cent. KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape follows with 17.7 per cent and 16.5 per cent respectively. There have been over 4.1 million tests conducted, with 15 028 tests conducted since the previous report. There were 22 deaths reported on 27 September.
Seven of these deaths were reported in the Eastern Cape, five from KwaZulu-Natal, two from Gauteng, five from the North West and three from the Western Cape.
There are over 600 000 recoveries, which reflects a 90 per cent recovery rate.
