New park is almost ready for Blue Hills residents to enjoy

BLUE HILLS – The Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo has made progress with the new park in Blue Hills.

A great deal of progress has been made in the new Blue Hills Park thanks to the work of Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, with the park expected to be ready in October.

Region A manager for Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, Joseph Ndou said they had worked on trimming the trees in the area and removing large amounts of rubble.

He added that the rubble in the area had been illegally dumped and they had to use a loader and three, four-ton trucks to remove it before they could commence with the installation of the benches and bins.

Ndou said, “Residents in Blue Hills can expect a well maintained, clean and safe park once all upgrading has been completed that will be fit for use by residents of all ages.

“Also, once completed, this open space development will serve as a lung of the city, offering a green space and fresh air to residents in Midrand who otherwise might seldom experience this. Not also to mention social cohesion and improve quality of life through allowing kids to play and adults to use our outdoor gym equipment.”
