IVORY PARK – Local non-profit organisation appeals to community for help.

The founder of a non-profit organisation based in Ivory Park has appealed to organisations and community members to assist them during these trying times.

Founder of the Bantu Bambanani Aids Project and a mother to many in the Ivory Park area, Phinah Roy has dedicated her life to helping those less fortunate but said that she cannot do it alone.

Roy, who feeds over a hundred children in her community, has appealed to community members and organisations to donate or volunteer their time to help them feed the many families and children who rely on them.

Bantu Bambanani Aids Project is a registered NPO which prides itself in providing counselling for those affected with Aids as well as providing hot meals and clothes for those less fortunate.

“We help people by feeding them with hot meals on a daily basis, especially orphans, vulnerable children, and youth. Most of these kids come from unfortunate backgrounds, some are being raised by their grandparents and some by their siblings.

“Therefore, because of the pandemic and lockdown it is very difficult to help them out because donors have nothing to help us with, only one organisation helps us by donating food every day, which is Food For Life. They have been a part of us, helping us consistently.”

Roy said that although they do have a loyal donor, they still find it hard to provide for the children. “We ended up going to two churches around Ivory Park to ask for help. Which was a success, congregants were able to donate cash because we needed petrol to go fetch food at Food For Life in Midrand.”

She added, “We therefore now need to get funds because we do not get funded by government. We would like to appeal to community members, and businesses to please help us in any way possible, be it by donating clothes, food or money as some of our operations to keep the organisation standing require financing.”
