Botshabelo relief fund helps local community members

CROWTHORNE – Botshabelo has assisted struggling community members through their Relief Fund.

Non-profit organisation Botshabelo has assisted a number of schools and struggling community members through their Relief Fund.

The spokesperson for the organisation, Jessica Smith said, “In the last six months, Botshabelo has had to reinvent themselves and bravely face this Covid-19 crisis just like everyone else. And although they had to close their school’s doors temporarily during lockdown and also work remotely, Botshabelo could not sit back and do nothing for the community during this pandemic.”

The organisation launched the Relief Fund in March to support individuals and families who had lost their jobs and income during the crisis. Smith added that the organisation had achieved in feeding more than 800 individuals by sending them e-vouchers or food parcels.

She said they had also resourced 13 impoverished preschools around Midrand with PPE starter packs and Covid-19 regulation training to help them safely reopen.

“Over 200 donors have supported this initiative and raised these critical funds. Botshabelo works together with churches in the area to identify needs, and also to move beyond just food relief and into sustainable, long-term impacts for families.”

The organisation would like to call on any other residents or businesses who would like to contribute to the Relief Fund by visiting their website at www.botshabelo.co.za or email them at office@botshabelo.co.za
