Spark Midrand reopens after Covid case

MIDRAND – Spark Midrand was closed temporarily for a day as to follow their positive case plan confirms communications head, Niraksha Ramphal.

Spark Midrand reopened their doors again on 26 June, after one of their learners tested positive for Covid-19.

In a media statement, communications lead at Spark Schools, Niraksha Ramphal, said that the learner last attended school on 17 June.

After this date, the learner began to experience flu-like symptoms thatprompted their parents to take them for testing. She added, “The parent received confirmation on 24 June that the scholar has tested positive for the coronavirus and immediately informed the school.

“We consulted with the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the Gauteng Department of Education, the Department of Health and Independent Schools Association of South Africa to make sure that we have taken all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our staff and scholars.”

Ramphal concluded that Spark Midrand was closed temporarily for a day so that they could follow their positive case plan. “A certified provider fogged and sanitised Spark Midrand. We reopened the school on 26 June.”
