About 80 community members from Ivory Park gathered on 26 June to march to the Ivory Park Police Station to protest gender-based violence in their community.
The community members demanded action against those who perpetrate crimes against women and children. Those involved in the protest marched peacefully to the police station and said that they are committed to working with the police.
Ivory Park Police Station Commander, Brigadier David Ngcobo said, “As we have received and signed the memorandum we will assess it and answer the demands of the community. We will communicate with them on the way forward and how we will involve them in this issue.”
Midrand Reporter journalist Floyd Mathebula is covering the protest.
