CK Foundation delivers much-needed food parcels in Midrand

MIDRAND – The foundation has a list of over 3 000 families that they try to assist.

The Citrum Khumalo Foundation, or CK Foundation for short, has been delivering much-needed food to families in need in the Midrand area during the lockdown.

“Since the Covid-19 pandemic, CK foundation has been involved in assisting our communities with food packs, specifically vegetables,” said the organisation’s founder, Citrum Thembinkosi Khumalo.

“We are also involved in cooking for just over 1 000 children in early childhood development centres as part of our community work. As CK Foundation we believe that in order to address social ills within our community we all need to work together.”

To this end, CK Foundation has teamed up with Nosh Food Rescue, Acorn Foundation, Chefs with Compassion, and community members who donate what little they have to help their neighbours in need. They deliver food to families in Ivory park, Mayibuye, Rabie Ridge, Klipfontein, Ebony Park and Alexandra.

“Feeding children is really close to our [hearts] as we believe that if a child loses nutrition at an early stage it tends to [affect] them for the rest of their lives,” Khumalo added.

“We currently have a list of 3 000 families that we try spread the little we have through our amazing community leaders. Our vision is to create sustainability for the society and help families who are financially unstable where we can.”

Khumalo, who is also known as Chef Khumalo in the community, said he founded the organisation in 2007 because of his love for the people.Details: CK Foundationinfo@ckfoundation.co.za;072 476 2109.
