Midrand Pikitup depot closed after driver tests positive for Covid-19

MIDRAND – The Midrand Pikitup depot will be closed until Monday (22 June) for decontamination.

The Midrand Pikitup depot has been closed for decontamination until Monday (22 June), after an employee tested positive for Covid-19.

Pikitup confirmed on 19 June that one of its employees, a contracted driver who renders services to employees at the Midrand depot, tested positive for the virus.

Spokesperson Muzi Mkhwanazi that the case was confirmed on 18 June.

“The normal protocol guidelines as prescribed by the National Department of Health, as well as the World Health Organisation, are followed in such cases. The employee is placed in quarantine and contact tracing is taking place. Where direct contact is established, employees will be requested to self -isolate for 14 days.

“All the necessary protocol guidelines against curbing the spread of the virus at depot level will be undertaken to ensure the safety of Pikitup employees.”

Mkhwanazi further added that the depot will be closed. “During the closure, the depot will be decontaminated, however, operations will continue as rendered through augmented services.”
