ICYMI: City Parks to develop Carlswald Park

CARLSWALD – The Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo are preparing development and formalization for a new park in Carlswald.

Johanneburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) will develop a new park on 6th Street in Carlswald.

Region A manager of City Parks Joseph Ndou said signage and 1.8m palisade fencing would be erected in the park and 10 trees would be planted. He added that four benches and three bins would be installed in the park.

Ndou added that the development of the park was planned before the Covid-19 lockdown and the current installations formed part of phase one of the project. The second phase would include new grass and repaving in the park.

The park will be known as Park 1415 and service providers have been approved to carry on work for the first phase which will start on 8 June. Ndou said, “We have made sure that service providers comply with Covid-19 regulations and as well as all health and safety measures.”

In alert Level 3, residents may not visit JCPZ parks and reserves, with the utility urging residents to comply with the emergency mitigation measures.

Ndou added that the formalisation of parks would allow for social cohesion and the growth of the city of Johannesburg’s open green spaces, and though they will not be able to visit currently, residents will have a new park in Carlswald for their use.
