Acts House of Education classes welcomed back

GLEN AUSTIN – The Acts House of Education's Grade 7 and 12 classes were brought back to school on 1 June.

Acts House of Education welcomed their grade 7 and 12 classes back to school on 1 June.

The school installed handwashing stations and assembly points for daily screening and sanitation. The school management has also reorganised classrooms to fully comply with Covid-19 social distancing regulations. Principal of Acts House of Education Anny Breedt said that the lockdown period was a time of planning, collaboration and creative problem solving to prepare for the reopening of school.

She said, “At last, after 9 weeks, the walkways, classrooms and lunch areas were again filled with the voices of cheerful students and the sound of teachers teaching. Acts House of Education’s leadership and maintenance staff ensured a smooth re-opening, by using their time effectively to secure PPE’s, complete construction projects and deep clean the school buildings.”

The school’s teaching staff have been worked hard to create a dual learning platform to allow learners to either study at home or at school. Breedt added that more grades will be re-introduced during the course of June, and is optimistic that the school will be fully operational by July.

She said, “The Grade 12 Class of 2020 is working diligently, proving that nothing will stand in the way of their education, and will be ready to write matric with good results! The School’s online platform has proven to work effectively and parents have the option to continue with online education, or safely sending their children back to school when they feel comfortable to do so.”

She concluded, “We would like to extend a warm message of gratitude to the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa for the valuable input in helping our school remain compliant, we could not do this without you! Thank you to all our parents and staff for your support, and we send our best wishes to all our Midrand schools as they plan to safely re-open.”
