SA Lipizzaners introduce one of their quirkiest stallions

KYALAMI – Pluto Odaliska is described as a sensitive soul who always gives his best.

The South African Lipizzaners would like to introduce one of their quirkiest little stallions to the public this week.

Pluto Odaliska is described as a special stallion whose pesade is a crowd favourite.

According to volunteer Gina Boxley, his dashing looks mean he is a favourite during carrot feeding time.

Current rider Camilla Lamb describes this 12-year-old stallion as one of a kind.

“He has stolen my heart and run away with it (quite literally and many, many times),” said Lamb.

She described him as a sensitive soul who always gives of his best and, if corrected, he takes it quite personally.

“He is very serious about his work, so sometimes we run him free in the arena just to get some energy out. This usually draws a crowd, including the grooms because he guns it!” said Lamb.

“He is such a loveable character and gives so many hugs and kisses to his fans when they give him carrots after performances.”

Lamb said that Pluto Odaliska is the horse she goes to for some equine comfort and cuddles when she has had a difficult day.

Pluto Odaliska is proudly sponsored by Jules Cranfield.

During lockdown, the Lipizzaners have had to cancel their weekly performances, resulting in a large drop in funding to feed the stallions.

Members of the public are encouraged to support the South African Lipizzaners, based in Kyalami, in any way they can during lockdown.
