ICYMI: Five suspects arrested for contravention of the Covid-19 Disaster Management Act

MIDRAND – Police visited seven liquor outlets and closed one. They also confiscated 36 bottles of liquor.

Five suspects were recently arrested after allegedly contravening the Covid-19 Disaster Management Act.

The Midrand police recently inspected six taxis, five malls and 10 shopping centres. They searched 193 vehicles and 296 people.

They also visited seven liquor outlets and closed one. The police confiscated 36 330ml cans/bottles of liquor.

Police also issued two traffic fines totaling R2 280.

Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Sergeant Matome Tlamela said that police recovered one suspected stolen vehicle engine.

Tlamela reported that five suspects were arrested for contravention of the Covid-19 Disaster Management Act. They have all been detained at the Midrand Police Station and will appear in court within 48 hours.
