Little Kickers Midrand trains at home

MIDRAND – Youngsters hone their soccer skills through fun interactive videos with Little Kickers Midrand.

Daily exercises and soccer drills have helped youngsters at Little Kickers Midrand to hone their skills at home during the lockdown.

Players range from the tender age of 18 months to eight years old, so there is a wide variety of soccer exercises that cater to different skill levels.”We have four different football classes, each tailored to a different age group,” said the franchise’s owner, Manuela Jardim.

“However, we have two core beliefs that we take into every session. Firstly, we believe in something we call play not push. It means teaching football in a fun, pressure-free environment. We want to give children a positive introduction to sport as a whole, not just football, so they’re more likely to stay healthy and active throughout their lives.”

The other core belief is that soccer can be educational. If it is coached correctly it can stimulate imagination and aid early development skills, such as learning colours and numbers, following instructions and playing as a team.

“We have been working daily on making sure that our Little Kickers children are kept fit and active at home. For our younger players, aged 18 months to four years, we have videos shared daily from our head office in the United Kingdom. These are training sessions of about 30 to 40 minutes long.”

Parents have taken to these videos wholeheartedly and have even shared videos of their children taking on obstacle courses at home.

“It has been an interactive time and we are loving seeing our players whom we miss so much.”For older players, coach Ryan Ndlovu has been busy creating soccer training sessions which the children can participate in.

“These sessions are training the players on very important football techniques so they don’t regress during these difficult times,” Jardim added.

When the lockdown is over and training is resumed, Little Kickers will implement safety measures such as ensuring classses are small, and will also implement social distancing.”I would like to invite anyone interested in joining Little Kickers to attend one of our free trials after the lockdown has ended,” Jardim concluded.
