Covid-19: Number of coronavirus cases increases to 12 739

There have been an additional 19 deaths recorded due to the coronavirus.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize announced that the number of coronavirus cases in South Africa has grown to 12 739 on 14 May.

Sadly, there have been a further 19 deaths, bring the total number of deaths due to the virus to 238.

There have been 5 676 recoveries, which means there are 7 063 active cases.

The Western Cape continues to record the highest number of positive cases in the country with 7 235 cases. Gauteng follows with 2 135 positive cases.

Mkhize added that over 400 000 tests have been done across the country with 16 666 done in the past 24 hours.
