Suspects on the run following armed robbery on Modderfontein Road

PRESIDENT PARK – Four suspects allegedly committed an armed robbery on Modderfontein Road on 7 May.

Midrand police are searching for four suspects who allegedly committed an armed robbery on Modderfontein Road on 7 May.

Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Sergeant Matome Tlamela said that at 10.30am on 7 May, a 53-year-old man working for a telecommunications provider was robbed at the corner of Modderfontein Road and President Road in President Park.

Tlamela said the man alleged that he was stopped by four men, one of whom pointed a gun at him. “They opened his bakkie and robbed him of his cell phone and three machines [owned by the telecommunications provider] to the value of R550 000,” said Tlamela.

The suspects were driving a white Nissan NP 200 with the registration HP 20 ZM GP.

Tlamela said the suspects have not yet been arrested, but police are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to their arrest to contact Midrand Police Station.
