Northerns Football Club trains at home

WATERFALL – Northerns Football Club moves training to home, uses videos to help.

The fields of Reddam House Waterfall are unusually quiet at the moment but that does not mean Northerns Football Club players are not training every day, and that the club will not be more than ready when the season resumes.

Since President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a lockdown, and South African Football Association’s restrictions and guidelines for the practices and matches of local soccer clubs, the sport has been put on hold in the sense of team gatherings. But individuals are still practising in their yards.

Northerns Football Club owner Theodora Crozét explained that the spread of the coronavirus has not slowed the momentum the club has had since the start of the season. “We really had a great start to the season with many new players joining and kids eager to kick off and get back to playing sports and being fit,” she said.

“Northerns FC are a partner club of Coerver Coaching South Africa. With the help of Coerver, they have extended their online platform which will give our players access to videos which they can use in the comfort of their own home.”

She said her players are doing this and it has helped them maintain fitness, ball technique and overall skill. “When we do get back to the field to train it will truly be a celebration of life again doing and playing what we all love, football.”

In the meantime, she encouraged all soccer players, not only the members of Northerns, to train as much as possible and stay fit and healthy.
