Still more work to be done at the Midrand SPCA

MIDRAND – The Midrand SPCA is calling for assistance to instal an electric fence around their property.

The Midrand SPCA has finished erecting their fence but there is still a lot of work to be done.

General manager of the organisation Pam Pretorius said that she is extremely excited about the completion of the project but they have more to be done in order to fully secure the property.

The fencing was initiated as a response to a number of robberies last year. The most extreme case they suffered occurred in July when three armed suspects broke into the property and held up the caretaker before taking a number of items including printers, a surveillance system and phones.

The work on the fence began earlier this year following significant assistance from the Fury Motor Group, Absa Business Bank and Wealth Recoveries. The fence goes around the organisation’s 329m² premises to reinforce it.

Pretorius said the organisation is hoping to take out the old palisade fencing and sell it off in order to fund an electric fence system that will be set above the new fencing.

“We would like to call on potential donors or members of the public to help us acquire and instal the a new electric fencing system, so we can completely secure our property to avoid any problems.”
