Local police arrested a 26-year-old man for suspected armed robbery on 4 March.
Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station, Sergeant Matome Tlamela, the female victim was walking in President Park along State Road when she was approached by two suspects around 9.15am.
The suspects demanded that the victim hand over her cell phone. The victim was apprehensive which led to the suspects allegedly threatening the victim with knives. They pulled and cut off her handbag and ran into nearby bushes.

Tlamela added that the victim gave chase and called on residents for help who assisted in looking for the suspects. The victim found her handbag which was empty. She lost two cell phones and cash amounting to R1 800.
After the victim called the station, officers searched the area and arrested one of the suspects involved. He was charged and detained at the Midrand Police Station. The police are still searching for the other suspect and the stolen items.
