Acts House dance team takes the win

GLEN AUSTIN – The Acts House of Education were crowned winners at the DSSL interschool competition.

The Acts House of Education dance students were crowned overall winners at the Dance Sport School League inter-school competition on 14 March.

Marketing manager for the school, Zeenath Sathiah, said, “Acts House of Education in Glen Austin has had a very successful season with the Dance Sport School League (DSSL).

“Having started the season in January, kicking off with auditions, selections and thereafter practising twice every week, they participated in competitions every Thursday and Friday this term and have always achieved top three positions.”

Sathiah added, “Coaches receive six dance moves per week and then taught it to their dance students.

“At the competitions, they are judged on the moves, the transition of moves and a variation of the moves, as well as a minute of freestyle dance. All are solo performances.

“Dance coordinator, Danielle Jordaan has seen a remarkable improvement in the learners’ energy levels and confidence. She says that both coaches and learners are thoroughly enjoying this sport.”

Jordaan said, “Many of our learners have become more self-assured on the dance stage at the DSSL competitions.”

Principal Anny Breedt said, “I am incredibly proud of my teachers. They are committed to the growth of each of their learners, and it shows on the dance floor and in the positive attitudes of our learners.”
