Midrand SPCA highlights the impact donations can make

MIDRAND – The Midrand SPCA borehole system has made a big difference after a year.

After a year, the Midrand SPCA‘s borehole and sewerage system is making a big difference in its operations.

The borehole system was installed in March last year following a tremendous fundraising effort with invaluable help from Fury Motor Group, William Hunt Midrand, Lindsay Saker Midrand, Fury Ford Midrand and Fury Mazda Midrand.

The organisation was able to raise approximately R300 000 to instal a borehole system, water retention tanks, a purification plant and upgrades to the water flow system. The project was taken on by Archiway Architects’ Byron Ninham with the project running from the groundbreaking on 4 February to 14 March last year.

General manager of the Midrand SPCA Pam Pretorius said that the system has made an incredible difference in their organisation’s operations with the constant flow water to assist in cleaning kennels, watering the grass and freshwater for the animals.

The system has also assisted the organisation financially, with tremendous savings on their water costs over the past year. “This has made a huge difference in our water bills that was previously in the region of R7 000 per month and is currently sitting at about R1 500 to R2 000 a month.”

She added that with the savings, they have been able to widen their operations and use the money for various things including food and medicine that ultimately have made their day-to-day operations much easier.
