NOORDWYK – Christ Church Preparatory School and College indoor netball players Khethelo Xaba and Elmarie Sunguti have been chosen to represent Gauteng Central.

Two talented netball players of Christ Church Preparatory and College have been selected for the Gauteng Central indoor netball team.

The two players are Khethelo Xaba and Elmarie Sunguti. Elmarie said, “I’m extremely proud and I’m excited for the upcoming tournament that we will take part in and I feel extremely honoured to represent Gauteng.

“We both play for Midrand Mavericks Netball club, and last year we were told that there were trials. I was really nervous at the trials but at the end of the day I just wanted to have fun.”

They were both chosen to represent the province at the inter-provincial tournament to be hosted in Hillfox later in the year. Khethelo will play for the U13 team while Elmarie will represent the U15 side.

They both credited their determination and speed as the reasons for their selection.

Khethelo said, “I’m really excited but also quite nervous… Netball is a high-intensity game and sometimes one mistake can cost the game. But I’m focusing on having fun.”

Deputy principal of the school Lisle Twaddle said, “We are very proud of the girls and we wish them luck on their upcoming tournament.”
