Midrand police officers are recognised for their efforts

MIDRAND – Midrand police recognise officers for putting on a great show at the Police Imbizo.

The Midrand Police Station‘s management honoured officers and emergency services employees with certificates on 24 February at the Kyalami Hill Leeuwkop Correctional Services for their outstanding drill performance at the Police Imbizo held at Siloam Ministries.

Their efforts were reported on in the Midrand Reporter in the article Ready to combat crime [Week ending 31 January].

Midrand Police Station Commander, Brigadier David Tsotsotso said that as part of the Midrand police management meeting the management wanted to appreciate the outstanding performance of their members as well as those from the Johannesburg Emergency Services (EMS) and the Johannesburg Metro Police Department.

“The awarded officers were those that performed on the day of the Police Imbizo, which included the worship team and the drill squad. About 99 certificates were issued and the divisional chief director received an EMS certificate on behalf of his members.

“Our district commissioner came to the Imbizo and addressed police officers from five different stations. The meeting was to see how we can work together to fight crime and bring the level of crime down, while taking input from the lowest-ranked police officers to the top-ranked officers.”

Tsotsotso added, “As a station commander in charge of the Midrand precinct, I want to thank all members that were involved in the drill for having drilled best on the day.”

The Joburg EMS spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, extended his gratitude on behalf of his colleagues saying that their drill squad has been part of these events for years and the South African Police Service saw it befitting this year to recognise them.

He said, “It’s a morale booster that our contribution in all spheres of government and interdepartmental events is recognised and appreciated.”

Mulaudzi added, “To receive such accolades from the police is an endorsement that the public safety drill squad is a force on its own.”
