The doors to the Ebony Park-Kaalfontein Community Health Centre are finally open

EBONY PARK – Doors to the new 24-hour operational clinic are finally opened.

Doors to the Ebony Park-Kaalfontein Community Health Centre were opened during an official ceremony on 20 February.

Kebareng Tshenye, the operational manager for the community health centre introduced the Midrand Reporter to the kind of services the centre will offer, “This is a clinic that has been rebuilt because the previous clinic was small and could not cater for the community.

“It was and still is one of the busiest clinics in Region A. Doors were opened on 28 January therefore the clinic has been operating for about a month now, but we have already seen more than 8 000 patients.”

Tshenye added that the centre caters to the greater Ivory Park community and as a community health centre they also run primary health care services for Ward 92 and Ward 111 which include Allandale, Kaalfontein and Ebony Park.

“We offer midwife obstetric services, mother-and-child services, antenatal services, family planning, immunisation, chronic services and tuberculosis services among others. This is the first community health centre in this region, and it is important to have such services because it means Tembisa Hospital will be relieved of certain services.

“People can now deliver their babies at this facility because this centre will be able to cater for emergency services unlike before whereby they had to go to Tembisa. This facility is going to change the lives of our community members and it is adding value because it provides 24-hour services unlike previously were we did not have any facility providing 24-hour services in this greater Ivory Park and Midrand community.”

Tshenye concluded that picture archiving communication services are provided from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 7pm and on a Saturday from 7am to 1pm and then thereafter emergency services take over for emergencies including maternal and obstetrics which run 24-hour services.
