The Kleena Joburg campaign from the City of Johannesburg hit the suburb of Midrand, joined by volunteers, Pikitup Midrand depot and MMC for Community Development Margaret Arnolds who helped plant 1 000 trees on 15 February.
Volunteers got their hands dirty together with Ward 78 councillor Steven Makamo and Ward 110 councillor Lesiba Lamola to clean up the streets of Ebony Park and Ivory Park.

Some Twitter users said that the City needs to have more clean-ups and the service needs to improve.
Gauteng needs a proper cleaning with constant community watch of those who do not dirty up their areas! #healthy environment#health life!

All that pikitup needs to do including its employees is realise they provide a service and as such need to keep to the times of collections. Locations/townships are in a mess cos there is no follow up cleaning after and before bins are collected
