Improved security for the Midrand SPCA at long last

MIDRAND – The Midrand SPCA is in the process of security upgrade and has installed a new fence.

The Midrand SPCA has received amazing new security measures through a brand-new fence.

The organisation has struggled for the past year from several robberies on their premises. The most devastating incident occurred on 10 July last year when three suspects entered the property and beat their caretaker before stealing various items including their printer, vaccines, surveillance equipment and phones.

The new fence was erected around the organisation’s 329m² perimeter premises as a reinforcement to the current palisade fencing. General manager of the Midrand SPCA Pam Pretorius said, “Since the robbery in 2019, we have started implementing various security measures to safeguard the society.”

She said that the funds for the security upgrade came from the invaluable assistance from the Fury Motor Group, Absa Business Bank and Wealth Recoveries who assisted with the society’s golf days hosted last year.

Pretorius said that the organisation is extremely happy and excited to see the securing of their premises and safety of their animals after a tough year.

She said, “The next phase of completing our security project is to get electric fencing around the entire property. We are appealing to the public to please help us finish off this project so that our society can be secure for the sake and safety of our animals, property and staff.”
