A man set to appear in court to face charges after allegedly raping his niece in Ivory Park

IVORY PARK – A man was arrested for Rape of his niece in the Ivory Park policing precinct.


Detectives from the Ekurhuleni North District arrested a 38-year-old man for the alleged rape of his niece.

Ivory Park Police Station spokesperson, Captain Bernard Matimulane said that the incident took place while the two were busy jogging in the Ivory Park policing precinct late in the afternoon on 24 January.

“It is said that while the two were busy with their exercise routine which they are used to doing together, the suspect began to make inappropriate sexual remarks to the 22-year-old victim.”

Matimulane added, “The victim was surprised by these remarks as they did come from her uncle, but she opted to continue jogging home, hoping they will never amount to anything.”

Matimulane added that the uncle then grabbed the victim, pulled her to a nearby veld not far from the busy Republic Road, where he forced himself on her.

“Upon her arrival at home the young woman relayed to her parents what had happened to her, and a case of rape was opened against the suspect at the Ivory Park SAPS. He is due to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on 27 January to answer to this charge.”
