Help donate school essentials to Bantu Bambanani

IVORY PARK – Bantu Bambanani is asking for help with school essentials for less-fortunate children.

Phina Roy, founder and owner of Bantu Bambanani, a community-based organisation in Ivory Park, Midrand, is reaching out to community members to help less-fortunate children by donating school essentials.

Roy’s organisation focuses on taking care of children in and around the Ivory Park area by running an after-school programme where they feed, clothe and provide school essentials for an estimated 200 or more children.

Roy said they need donations of school shoes, stationery and uniform for the children. “It would be really helpful as some of the kids go to school wearing old, beaten-up shoes and uniforms, therefore, we thought we should reach out now as it is the beginning of the year.

“The deadline for donations is 31 January. Donors can deliver at our offices, 657 Masakhane Drive Ivory Park, Ext 2, or call us on 065 882 4030.”

Some of the programmes Bantu Bambanani is involved in include supplying kids with sanitary pads as well as a hosting a support group lunch every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to provide support for people living with HIV and Aids.

“Because we also feed the children, we would like to appeal to the community members to assist us in volunteering with their transport and time to fetch food for us at the Food For Life centre on daily basis at least before 12pm or the latest at 1pm as we really are struggling with fetching the food because of funds,” she concluded.
