308km/h Midrand speedster has been identified, department in hot pursuit

MIDRAND – Authorities have identified the 308km/h speedster.


A motorist who turned a lot of heads with a recording of themselves reaching a high of 308km/h on the N1 South, Midrand has been identified, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula confirmed on 23 January. 

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) tweeted that traffic authorities have identified the driver. The tweet read, “He must come forward and present himself or we will visit him at his place of residence in Midrand.”

At the time, JMPD Senior Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said speeding fines can reach up to R20 000 or possible jail time.
