Parents scramble to place their children at Midrand High School

MIDRAND – Parents seek Grade 8 placement at Midrand High School.

Parents hoping to find space at nearby schools are currently at Midrand High School hoping to find placement for their children, with the school year already three days in.

This publication’s journalist Ofentse Ditlopo was at the school on 16 January and visited again today, 17 January and spoke to some of the concerned parents. Kedibone Kganye has been trying to place her daughter since last week and was informed there is no space to place her.

Another concerned parent Lamola Precious said, “I have been trying to get placement since 7am in the morning and the education district people only came here at 11 am. They said they can’t help Grade 1 and 8 placing until 24 January because the system is already open. I haven’t found placement as yet. My daughter is doing Grade 8 this year, we registered in July to which we got no response.”

Precious added that she went to Sandton on 15 January to get help from the district offices and was instructed to go to Midrand  High School. She was informed at the school that they can only assist parents with placement from 8am to 1pm.

She said they have been stressed as parents because they will only be informed next week if their children have been placed or not.
