The Summerhill College celebrated another year with a 100 per cent pass rate in their matric results.
Head of the IEB phase Lorraine Naicker said, “Of the 17 candidates, eight learners obtained bachelor passes and nine achieved diploma passes. We are immensely proud of the nine learners who achieved distinctions across a range of subjects.”
Principal of the school Vashni Chetty said, “Well done to the Class of 2019. Congratulations to those students who worked hard to receive the great results they did. We wish them all of the very best in their future endeavours.”
The learners who achieved distinctions were:
- Dondolo Kazemebe achieved two distinctions in business studies and life orientation
- Azola Koloki achieved two distinctions in information technology and life orientation
- Nokulunga Mahlangu received a distinction in IsiZulu first additional language
- Savayen Moodley received a distinction in mathematics literacy
- Esona Mdingi, Liam Myburgh and Thato Rapoo received distinctions in life orientation.
Naicker added that against the backdrop of celebration, the school is still reeling from the loss of top achiever Azola Koloki who tragically passed away in December. She said, “His two distinctions and outstanding 72 per cent aggregate is a testament to the drive and diligence that defined him.”
She concluded, “These results are a reflection of a combined effort and we would like to commend our dedicated staff and parents for their ongoing support during the challenging year.”
