The Midrand Reporter team has reported on a number of incidents on the N1 highway. Here are five of the most shocking occurrences on the N1 highway.
- Chicken truck overturned
A truck carrying chickens overturned on the N1 leaving one lane closed. Metro police and the Midrand and Sandton SPCA were on the scene to assist with 60 chickens being rescued while 40 died.
- Shoot-out near Allandale Road off-ramp
A shoot-out between the police and four suspects took place on the N1 north on 25 September following a robbery in Kramerville in Sandton.

- Overturned egg truck
A truck carrying eggs overturned on the Allandale off-ramp at the N1 north leaving two people injured.

- Horror crash on N1
A fatal taxi crash on the N1 claimed the lives of 10 people after the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the concrete barrier on 18 August.
- Washing powder looted on N1
The N1 near the Olifantsfontein off-ramp was in disarray on 18 February when looting of a truck carrying washing powder after it had overturned.
