Investigation Company scoops security accolades

HOUGHTON – A private security company, IRS Forensic Investigations scooped six awards at this year's Security Industry Bravery, Crime Prevention and Crime Awareness Awards ceremony.

Private Security Company, IRS Forensic Investigations based in Houghton, won six awards at this year’s prestigious Security Industry Bravery, Crime Prevention and Crime Awareness Awards ceremony held at Gallagher Estate in Midrand on 5 November.

The awards were supported by the regulatory body, the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).

With Deputy Minister of Police Cassel Mathale as the guest of honour, IRS Forensic Investigations was the only private investigations company to receive awards while all other recipients were security companies.

Private investigators and private investigation companies are required by law to register with PSIRA in terms of the laws governing the private security industry in South Africa.

Paul Farrow and Jarod Paul, both from Orange Grove, are two of the IRS staff members that received awards.

The other recipients of awards from IRS were Glenda Paul, Chad Thomas, André van Wyk and Leonna Ballian.

This is the second time that Chad Thomas has received an award from the security industry, with the first award having been awarded by the then Security Officers’ Board, the precursor to PSIRA, way back in 1998, 21 years ago.

This year has also been a good year for IRS chief operations officer, Glenda Paul, who was named in August as one of five women in the legal and justice industry chosen by the Mail and Guardian for the feature Women Changing South Africa 2019.

IRS Forensic Investigations is well known as one of the foremost independent financial crimes investigation companies that operate throughout South Africa. “These awards are a testimony to the hard work conducted by the staff of IRS”, said Chad Thomas, chief executive officer of IRS.

“The year 2019 has been a particularly challenging year, but our staff have excelled, despite the odds and continue to make breakthroughs in the investigation of financial and organised crime in South Africa.”
