Young teen shows she cares for her community

KYALAMI – A young Midrand resident has shared her passion for giving back to the community.

At just the tender age of fourteen, Midrand resident Zama Zwane is already keen on helping out her community.

Zama recently visited Yenzani Children’s Home in Midrand and touched the hearts of the youngsters by not only providing them with toiletries and other items but also motivating, sharing the love and spending time with them.

“These kinds of initiatives are extremely important to communities. I strongly believe we have so much to be grateful for and giving back is much better than keeping everything for one’s self. Also, no one has become poor by giving to others,” said Zama.

”People aren’t as beautiful as they walk, talk, or look. But they are as beautiful as they love, care and share. Help others and better others. Most importantly, be all you can be.”

In an effort to create employment for other people, Zama founded her own company, Green Revolution, which aims to provide clean electricity to the less fortunate by using solar panels. Zwane hopes to attract large businesses which consume a lot of electricity and urges them to go green because coal is running out. “We cannot run on coal forever, especially if there is cheaper more efficient methods that we can try use. So I [want] to just raise awareness that coal is not the only way we can go.”

She was also recently awarded the Miss Teen Social Entrepreneur title for all her work within the community.
