Couple loses valuables following a house break-in

VORNA VALLEY – The suspects allegedly got away with cell phones, jewellery and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Ria Sebetsa Security responded to a call after a woman reported seeing two unknown men in her yard.

CEO of Ria Sebetsa Security, Danny Maduray said they received a report this morning, 6 November, from the husband of the woman. The woman, who was at their home at the time, told her husband that she had seen two men in the yard when she made the call, but came to the realisation that there were three men.

“The husband immediately rushed from his place of work to the Ria Sebetsa Security offices and informed us of what was happening,” said Maduray.

Maduray said that they went to the couple’s house, “When we got there, the suspects were already gone, although we responded within a minute.”

The wife told Maduray that there were three suspects – two of them had screwdrivers and the other one had an axe. “They gained entry through the garage.”

Maduray added that the suspects allegedly used the axe to lever the property gate and held up the wife and an elderly man who was with her at the time.

The three suspects are said to have taken off with cell phones, jewellery and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Midrand police were present at the scene. No injuries were reported but Maduray said that the residents are traumatised.

Sergeant Matome Tlamela from the Midrand Police confirmed the above information and said that they also saw a white VW Gold looking suspicious on the other side of the road but the number plate is unknown. “Three cell phones amongst other things were taken with an estimated value of R10 000”.
