Security guards recognised for crime-fighting efforts

MIDRAND – 18 Midrand security guards were awarded certificates for their contribution in helping SAPS fight crime in the community.


Midrand Police Station management along with Midrand Community Policing Forum handed over certificates to security companies in Midrand to show their appreciation for the good partnership and the work they have been doing to help them fight crime in the area.

Eighteen security companies made it to the Midrand Police Station on 10 October where station commander, Brigadier David Tsotsotso and Midrand CPF chairperson Steven Johnston handed over their certificates.

Tsotsotso said that he would like to thank all security companies that have been patiently partaking week in and out to assist the community and police. “I cannot complain with regards to the amount of time that you are giving to us. I really appreciate you because we are seeing the decline in crime specifically in the areas where we have paraded with you.

“Midrand SAPS would like to honour all security companies, for your contributions and assistance in helping us bring the level of crime in Midrand down. Even though the crime is still high and reported in numbers, your involvement in partnerships is helping us to actually address the crime in Midrand.”

Tsotsotso said that every week when they do operations, the companies are involved as police patrol at hotspot areas.

“They say when someone is doing something good you must thank them for work well done, so we are doing that together with the CPF chairperson and my operational commanders of the station to say colleagues we can see what you are doing for the community of Midrand as well as for us as police.”
