Christ Church celebrates a tremendous season

NOORDWYK – Christ Church Preparatory school and college look back at a great athletics season.


As the athletics season comes to a close, Christ Church Preparatory School and College have expressed pride in their teams’ performances.

The preparatory school team competed with an average of four schools in their non-competitive events. Spokesperson for the school Zeenath Sathiah said, “With athletics season being our shortest sports season our prep pupils put their minds together in working not just as a team but as a family during each practice session and meeting”

She added that their Grade 7 athletes displayed incredible leadership to their young counterparts, cheering them on in every event. Head of the preparatory school’s athletics, Reece Prinsloo, said he is happy with the performance of their athletes and believed that they held the Christ Church flag high.

The college team ended their season on a high note finishing second in the Co-Education Private Schools Athletics League (CEPSAL) B League Inter-High athletics after St Dunstan’s College. Sathiah said, “Head of college athletics Jacqueline Brown is passionate about ensuring that each athlete’s individual potential is maximised is a core value at our school. Being a provincial athlete herself and inspired by South African athlete, Zola Budd, Brown’s commitment to athletics at our school has become evident by our steady improvement over the years.”

The college team were given a workshop to team at the stand of the season about diet and fitness which proved to be beneficial in their performances.

Director of sport and culture at Christ Church Preparatory School and College Alviro Peterson said, “It is satisfying to see a great improvement in our athletics in both our preparatory school as well as college in the last few years. Our results have shown that our coaches and our students are doing the right things. I am proud of all during this athletics season.”
