Acts of Love assists young people to explore their career options at expo

MIDRAND – Acts of Love assisted young people with their future at the recent Career Planning Expo.

Acts of Love hosted their Career Planning Expo at the Vodacom Dome on 21 September.

The organisation forms part of the ‘care arm’ of the Acts Christian Church in Midrand and puts together the career planning expo to assist young people in thinking and developing their future.

Founder of the organisation Cindy Naidoo said, “This is in line with the vision of the organisation’s Educare programme which is an initiative with a focus on the educational future of orphaned children.”

The organisation has developed several programmes including giving learners extra tuition while also providing support such as transport and food to learners to assist in maximising their learning experience.

Naidoo said, “Over 200 students from orphanages and impoverished areas around the city packed at the Vodacom Dome for the day.

“The event was also open to Grade 8 to 12 learners from the general public. Over 40 exhibitors within 17 different career categories adopted a space to exhibit their profession and went through great efforts to make their booth interactive and interesting.”

Director of Acts of Love Collin Naidoo said that the organisation was grateful to their faithful partners and donors for fully sponsoring the venue and meals and the career exhibitors for giving their time and expertise to make an impact on the educational future of the city’s young people.

He made special mention of Vodacom’s generosity in making the venue available for the benefit of the learners.

Every learner received a ‘dream bag’ that consisted of a personalised journal, T-shirt, bible, pens, pencils and some edible goodies.

Learners also received a career guidebook which contained over 20 different career choices from the various employment sectors available in South Africa that they can consult at any time as they consider their future.
