Kids’ real-life flight of fancy

GLEN AUSTIN – The Children's Flight hosted 300 kids to enjoy a fun day.

It was a heartwarming day at Grand Central Airport when The Children’s Flight initiative gave 300 children the opportunity to fly.

The initiative was started by Michael Ferguson and Felix Gosher who first conceived the idea after a writing the song, entitled Paper Plane, which was designed to inspire children to dream.

Gosher said, “The song developed into an event where we used aviation and music in a powerful combination to expose children, who may not get the opportunity in their lives to fly.

“We wanted to make it possible for that one day where pilots pull out all the stops just for the children below the poverty index. And for them to be touched by a great feeling.”

The duo took to social media to develop the event further. Ferguson said they got a wealth of responses from people willing to give their services to the project when their first event took place in 2016.

Gosher said the mix of people from various economic classes came together to make the event happen and to inspire the children. The day saw over 300 excited children from various schools and organisations arriving to take the flight.
