Police take down suspected dagga dealer

HALFWAY HOUSE – The Midrand police arrested a suspected drug dealer in Halfway House.


The Midrand police arrested a suspected drug dealer in Halfway House on 5 September.

Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Sergeant Matome Tlamela said the police were patrolling the Halfway House area. The officers spotted a suspicious 33-year-old male sitting under an umbrella on Church Street.

She added that the officers approached the suspect and requested to search him, which he granted.

Tlamela said that during the search, the police found a plastic bag containing small packets of dagga. During questioning the suspect admitted to police that he was selling the substance.

The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at the Midrand Police Station. The suspect was charged with dealing in an illegal substance and is expected to appear in the Midrand Magistrates’ Court soon.
