MIDRAND – Car enthusiasts met up at Boxtown to show off their cars and some to admire the beauty of cars.

The T3 Motorshow hosted a one-of-a-kind show on Spring Day inviting all motor enthusiasts from around Midrand and outside to come to show off their vehicles and car fans to come admire as they enjoy some good food from stalls and relax.

The car show and business expo themed ‘Spring First Sundays’ saw kids, couples and people of all ages gather at Boxtown to get a first-hand experience of cars not normally seen on our roads.

Host Renusha Pillay from T3 Motorshow and Business Expo explained that the event was hosted in different locations every month.

She added, “It is an event that brings people in the motor industry together, if they want to show off their sound or car styling from different cultures and areas, it is just for the love of the sport.

“We have sound testing which we refer to as DB (decibel) testing, done by a meter reader, a cable is plugged in the vehicle to test the DBs and the guys come to compete.

“There is also Show and Shine, cars that are stunt cars or are done up or have an original look. For Low Limbo, we check how low a vehicle can go; Glow in the Dark are cars fitted with additional lighting that they can’t actually show off in the roads.”

Pillay added that the spot where they had the event was perfect. “We love it and people also love it because it is a contained spot and is also safe. It is not in a location where people can speed or drive recklessly. Everything is done in this location and we just call our friends and families and everyone to come out and have fun.

“This environment is for the car owners to come and show off their lighting and sound. I think going forward, we will be doing our first Sundays here because it is an event we do all over Johannesburg and KwaZulu-Natal and it is taking the industry by storm because there are a lot of people that love cars.”

The Midrand Reporter followed Ben Dhlodhlo as he gave a tour of his Volkswagen Up.
