Theft of canopies on the rise, police warn

RABIE RIDGE – Rabie Ridge SAPS urges community members owning bakkies with canopies to park safely after a trend in canopy theft.

Rabie Ridge Police Station is urging all community members owning or driving bakkies to park their bakkies in places which are safe.

This comes after a media release on 15 August by the Rabie Ridge Police Station spokesperson, Constable Jacob Nhlongo.

Nhlongo said theft of canopies was fast becoming a problem around their policing area. “We are appealing to car owners, more especially those who are driving bakkies carrying canopies, to at least park their cars in safe spaces.

“In most reported cases of canopy theft, the majority are company cars. People just park them outside their yards, then next thing, the canopies get stolen.

“We also appeal to anyone with information regarding such a crime committed to report it to the police.”

Nhlongo said that community members can call 071 6757 400 or 0113100410 or visit the Rabie Ridge Police Station to report such and any cases.
