Not so slick after all

IVORY PARK – Police arrest 11 suspects who were in possession of 250 Sassa and TymeBank cards in Kaalfontein.


Ivory Park police officers arrested 11 suspects for the alleged possession of 250 Sassa and TymeBank cards near the Engen garage in Kaalfontein on 7 August.

According to Ivory Park spokesperson, Captain Bernard Matimulane the suspicion was that the suspects, who are aged between 24 to 48 years, were busy fraudulently allocating pin codes for each of the cards. “The pin codes were going to be used for the purpose of fraudulently accessing money intended for Sassa recipients.”

Matimulane added that the Ivory Park police spokesperson Captain Bernard Matimulane. suspects were swiftly arrested and were expected to appear in court soon. “All of the three vehicles in use by the suspects and 11 cell phones and a laptop at the time of the arrest were confiscated.

Police are appealing to anyone who has been a victim of a similar crime to come forward to make a statement at the Ivory Park Police Station.”
